A few common practices in the industry today:
  1. Take advantage of the "free" design services that are offered by their primary equipment vendor or their local representatives. You have heard the term, "You get what you pay for, right?"  Well, we believe in most cases this is true. The fact of the matter is that equipment reps or application engineers don’t spend the time to study the entire system and may not offer what is best for the owner. An equipment vendor's first job is to maximize the placement of their technology and equipment.
  2. In the majority of cases, there is a misconception and lack of clarity on the scope of work & expectation which is neither delineated by the owner or by the other party.
  3. Take advantage of the "Design-Build Services.” Although, we have excellent Design Build contractors in the United States, and whether Design-Build or Design Bid is the right answer for an owner, is not an easy question. The fact is that most contractors prefer design build because it is more profitable, and they are in control of the project.
